Sherwin Creek Campground is located in the Eastern Sierras near the Town of Mammoth
Lakes, at an elevation of 7,600 feet. The campground is situated in a shady Jeffery
Pine forest and bordered by Aspen-lined Sherwin Creek.
CAMPING:
The campground is open from late April until mid September; please call information
for the actual opening and closing dates of the campground. The maximum stay
is 21 days at all sites. Reservations must
be made at least 4 days in advance, with a 2 night minimum stay over the
weekends. The campground also offers sites for first come, first serve campers.
There are 87 family campsites; some sites have barbecues, but all sites have
picnic tables and fire rings. All sites have bear proof food lockers
for food protection

SERVICES & FACILITIES:
Flush toilets and potable water are available. A hospital is located 3 miles away
in the Town of Mammoth Lakes. Firewood is also available for sale (ask your camp host).
THINGS TO DO:
Fishing is available at Sherwin Creek Campground and other nearby lakes and streams.
Hiking trails, mountain biking, equestrian trails, and OHV trails are
just outside the campground. There is also a factory outlet mall, golf course,
and restaurants are in the Town of Mammoth Lakes. Summer mountain bike park and
gondola rides are available at Mammoth Mountain Ski Area (approximately 5 miles).
An interpretive program in the form of nature hikes, kid programs and campfire
programs are provided weekly.
DIRECTIONS:
Take US 395 to State Highway 203 to Mammoth Lakes. Turn right onto Old Mammoth Road
(the first traffic light). Go South to Sherwin Creek Road. Turn left and continue
for 2 miles to the campground.
