The House Creek Recreation Complex is across the reservoir from the McPhee
Complex. This gently
sloping, grassy area is near the reservoir’s high-water line.
There is an open play area, sanitary dumping station, group picnic area, and fourlane
boat ramp.
The campground has 65 campsites in three loops; two are designed
for wheelchairs. There are 22 sites with electrical hookups. Loop B campsites can be
reserved in advance (all others are first-come, first-served). The two adjacent group
areas can each accommodate 30 people and can also be reserved in advance (no electrical
hookups are available in the group sites).

Reservations must be made at least 4 days in advance. Fee of $7 for third vehicle in the family sites. No per vehicle fee at the group sites. Golden Passports apply only to first vehicle. ELECTRIC SITE, FEE FOR ELECTRIC WILL BE COLLECTED AT THE CAMPGROUND.

From Colorado Hwy 145, turn right on Forest Service Road 526. Continue 6 miles and turn left at the House Creek Recreation Complex. Forest Service Road 528. Continue 6 miles and follow signs to Complex. Road dead ends into Complex. Follow signs to Camp Loop B. The access road and parking areas are paved.

LOCAL INTEREST:
McPhee Reservoir has 50 miles of shoreline in open mesa
country. A large parking lot is adjacent to a 6-lane concrete boatramp
with motorized boating access. There are restricted areas in wakeless
zones. Courtesy docks are available seasonally, based on voluntary donations. The
reservoir is stocked with warm- and cold-water species of fish. A fish cleaning station
is near the boat ramp and restrooms. Adjacent to the boat ramp is a trail leading to a
scenic overlook, with 360-degree views and intepretive signs. The trail continues on
to the tent camping area of McPhee Campground. |
