In California
There are hundreds of miles for OHVs in the Mammoth Area. Please remember all OHVs must stay on trails and roads, and a California Green Sticker is required. There is a Motor Cross Track nearby at Sherwin Creek Campground, with National Motocross Races held each June.

In Colorado
Opportunities abound in both the Salida and Leadville Ranger Districts for OHV use, for full size vehicles as well as dirt bikes, three and four wheelers. Stay at O’Haver Lake Campground and try out the many roads and trails in the area, most reached from the Shirley Site Parking area. Numerous roads and trails can be found in the upper Chalk Creek Drainage. For an exciting all day jeep or SUV trip we highly recommend departing Mt. Princeton, Chalk Lake, Cascade or Iron City Campground going west to St. Elmo then over Tin Cup Pass to the community of Tin Cup turning north then back east over Cottonwood Pass and back to your campground or for a slightly longer journey turn south then east over Monarch Pass then back to your campground. A shorter trip takes you to the ghost town of Hancock and on to the Alpine Tunnel on the Denver, South Park and Pacific Railroad, now abandoned. From campgrounds in the Leadville area, Molly Brown, Silver Dollar, Baby Doe, Belle of Colorado, May Queen a popular day trip is over Mosquito Pass east of Leadville to the town of Fairplay, while there be sure to visit the restored 1800s village of South Park, no relation to the cartoon.

Within the confines of the Turquoise Lake Recreation Area vehicles that or not street legal may not be unloaded. You may however, keep them in your campground provided they remain on a trailer on in the back of a pick-up. At other campgrounds within the area you should check with the camp host before unloading a non-street legal vehicle, you may be asked to trailer them to unloading areas.

In Texas
"The Pit" at the south end of the Lake McClellan Recreation Area is a major trailhead for OHV users. This area is considered the prime riding area within the Texas Panhandle. While OHV use is NOT allowed within the campgrounds, there is an extensive trail system that can be accessed from "the Pit". You must register your OHV at the store and obtain a permit and copy of the rules of use for all OHV operators before unloading your OHV. OHV operations is limited to dirt bikes, three and four wheelers, no trucks, cars or SUVs are allowed on the trails.
